The show's premise and major aspects of the main character were inspired by some of 28-year-old Dunham's real-life experiences.[1] Girls has concluded its third season, which consists of 12 episodes[2] and premiered on January 12, 2014.[3] The series has been renewed for a fourth season, which consists of 10 episodes and will premiere in early 2015.[4]
